Meet Laura ….
As well as my physiotherapy career I have also worked for Parelli Natural Horsemanship, The British Equestrian Federation and British Dressage. This experience, along with competing my own horses, gives me a good insight into the equine competition world and an understanding of the horse and rider as athletes and their unique needs.
In 2007 I had the opportunity to travel to the USA and immersed myself in learning equine psychology and developing my groundwork and ridden skills with horses. Equine psychology continues to be something I am passionate about today especially how we can look at the world from the horses’ point of view.
I currently live in Worcestershire with my terriers Roxy and Mojo and my Brittany Tico who I enjoy gundog training with. Sadly I do not currently have a horse in my life but my lovely clients make sure I get my horse fix when I am treating their horses.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Professionals (RAMP). I am also a member of The Chartered Society of Physiotherapist (CSP) and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT).
This means that I am fully qualified, up to date in my training, and fully insured to treat both you and your animals.
From an early age I had a passion for animals and in particular horses and dogs which I have been fortunate to have throughout my life. When one of my ponies had an accident and was referred to a physiotherapist I realised that this was the path I would like to follow for a career and develop the skills needed to help animals in this way. On researching this it was recommended to complete the training as a human physiotherapist first and then to take these skills into animal physiotherapy after further training.
I graduated with a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy from the University of East London in 2000 and began a career in the NHS covering many aspects of Physiotherapy and learning essential skills to form a solid base in my knowledge and treatment skills. I then went on to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy at Hartpury University and have developed and expanded my skills to assess and treat both humans and animals.
